One of the best things to do when in Cairo is to wander around the open air Khan Ali-Kalili market. This fascinating place has been in existence since the 14th Century and it sells many different wares including souvenirs, perfumes, spices and locally traded products. Be prepared to haggle for some great deals, but remember to always keep a smile on your face.
See the Sphinx
The Sphinx is one of Egypt’s most famous landmarks, so it should definitely be on your list of places to see. It’s important in Egyptian history and makes a great photo opportunity.
Giza Pyramids
A visit to the Giza Pyramids is one of the best sights in Egypt. As well as being world famous, they are also an amazing testament to the history of Egypt. It’s estimated that more than 20,000 workers were used to complete the period, which took more than 80 years to complete.
Nile River Cruise
The River Nile is one of the mos famous waterways in the world and it’s spectacular scenery shouldn’t be missed. There are plenty of Nile cruises to choose from – you can choose to go sightseeing, or perhaps enjoy a candlelit meal while cruising down the river.

Alexandria
Get a real flavour of this magnificent country by stopping off at Alexandria. Sip some coffee or smoke some sheesha at one of the many antique coffee houses that are dotted around the area, and admire the grand squares and beautiful buildings. This is one of the few cities that is free from touts, so it’s well worth taking some time out here and engaging the locals in a debate!
